Who We Are
FSD Life Tracker (fsdlifetracker.com) is operated by Giagolab. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it. We believe in radical transparency: we collect the bare minimum to keep this site running well.
What We Collect
We collect only anonymous analytics data. We do not collect names, email addresses, IP addresses, or any personally identifiable information. Specifically:
- Page performance data: Page load times, browser type, screen size, and operating system
- Navigation data: Which pages are visited, referring domain (hostname only), and general geographic region (country level, derived from timezone)
- Interaction events: Country selections, share/copy actions (the country code only, no personal data)
- UTM parameters: Campaign source/medium/name if present in the URL, to understand where traffic comes from
- Errors: JavaScript errors to help us fix bugs
All data is aggregated and anonymous. We cannot identify individual users from the data we collect.
Cookies We Use
We use exactly one cookie:
- cookie_consent — Stores your cookie preference ("accepted" or "declined"). Expires after 1 year. This is a strictly necessary cookie under GDPR as it records your consent choice.
If you accept cookies, we additionally load Amazon CloudWatch RUM, which may set its own session cookie for anonymous performance monitoring. No advertising, tracking, or third-party marketing cookies are ever used.
Analytics Provider
We use Amazon CloudWatch RUM (Real User Monitoring) for anonymous analytics. This service is provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and processes data in the US East (N. Virginia) region. AWS acts as a data processor on our behalf. Their privacy practices are governed by the AWS Privacy Notice.
No data is shared with any other third party. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising-related tracking.
Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
For visitors in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom:
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR): Analytics cookies are only loaded after you explicitly accept them via the cookie banner
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): The consent cookie itself is set under legitimate interest, as it is necessary to respect your privacy preferences
For visitors outside the EEA/UK, analytics are loaded by default as GDPR consent requirements do not apply. You can still opt out via the "Manage cookies" link in the footer.
Data Retention
Anonymous analytics data is retained for 30 days in CloudWatch RUM, after which it is automatically deleted. We do not export or archive this data. The consent cookie is retained on your device for 1 year.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Decline cookies — Click "Decline" on the cookie banner. No analytics will be loaded.
- Withdraw consent — Click "Manage cookies" in the footer at any time to reset your preference and re-display the banner.
- Block cookies — Use your browser settings to block all cookies from this site.
- Request information — Contact us to ask what data (if any) we hold. Since all data is anonymous and aggregated, we likely cannot identify any data relating to you specifically.
- Lodge a complaint — You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Children's Privacy
This website is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
International Transfers
Analytics data is processed in the United States (AWS US East region). For EEA/UK visitors who consent to analytics, this constitutes a transfer of anonymised data to the US under AWS's data processing agreements.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted on this page.
