Iceland
High Tesla density for its size, but a population of 380,000 keeps every absolute figure small. Outside the EU, so a bloc-wide vote would not reach it.
Where it sits
Tesla fleet
Estimated share of the ~40โ55k 'other Europe' Tesla bucket.
Road safety baseline
A safer baseline means less room for FSD to help. Iceland is already safer than the EU average, which is why the figures here look modest next to countries with the same fleet size.
How this number is worked out
11 road deaths ร 0.83 crash reduction ร ( 3,000 the whole Tesla fleet รท 152K vehicles ) = 0.2 lives / year
Because FSD is blocked here, the calculation uses the whole 3,000-car fleet: this is what Iceland is currently giving up, not what it is getting. The 83% figure is the midpoint of Tesla's published crash-rate data; the vehicle total assumes 400 vehicles per 1,000 people. Full workings on the methodology page.
Who decides
Iceland has not recognised the Dutch type approval. Outside the EU it cannot inherit the Dutch approval at all: it has to grant its own.
