How this number is worked out
162 road deaths × 0.83 crash reduction × ( 700 active FSD users ÷ 1.12M vehicles ) = 0.1 lives / year
Because FSD is switched on here, the calculation uses the 700 drivers actually using it, not the whole fleet — this is measured impact, not potential. The 83% figure is the midpoint of Tesla's published crash-rate data; the vehicle total assumes 400 vehicles per 1,000 people. Full workings on the methodology page.
What changed here
Lithuania recognised the Dutch RDW provisional type approval under UN R171 on 20 May 2026. Every Tesla in the country with the right hardware could use FSD Supervised from that date.
